Fun and politics

This is too much fun.

DigYourOwnGrave Online Games: Flight of the Hamsters

On to politics. I am a hesitant Obama supporter at this point. My fears are these: Is Obama just the democratic version of W? Am I voting against my values?

The reason for concern over the first part is that I do see that the real quality that Obama has is that he is a nice guy, who (unlike W) is a good speaker. Is the talk of reconciliation and being a "uniter" all talk? We have yet to see. My values; pacifism, human rights for all, the environment and the poor are not represented by any candidate (save Kucinich who is so far below the radar he barely is worth mentioning) and Obama has only vague positions on any of these items. And yet, I am still for him. Why, you say? Well, Virginia, I would rather be the shiny-eyed optimist who sees a pull-out from Iraq, a more reasoned dialog, higher CAFE standards, and a signed Kyoto protocol (the State of the Union was just laughable, btw), in the eyes of a vague candidate than the stark reality of rank bipartisanship and an increasing military industrial complex in the eyes of a candidate whose positions I despise.

You can't throw away your vote, no matter what anyone says, that's not how democracy works, so who knows I may throw my 1/300,000,000th at some 3rd party candidate.

Alright Willis!

Willis's book is out and it's really good. More news when I finally finish it but reading is a bit slow these days.
